A Brief History
Alameda's first Sing-It-Yourself Messiah was organized in 1995 by volunteer choir directors, choir members, community representatives to provide Alamedans with a Messiah of their own. Since that time, soloists and musicians from all over the Bay Area have participated in the annual free performances, and many have generously donated their services. Current organizing committee members are Terry O'Connor, Josh Cohen, Gesine Lohr, Pat Sahadi, Leslie Sullivan, David Howitt, Michael Moran, Harry Reppert, Eva Fields, Lydia Cho, Yoon Geong, and Rev. Mark Hofman.
